Verinag Spring is a source of River Jhelum – a place covered with pine trees and evergreen forests situated at a distance of 80 kms from Srinagar located at a height of 1876 meters. Never to dry up the spring (famous by the name of Verinag) is a naturally serene and captivating place. The spring present at Verinag has a characteristic of never to dry up or overflow. Further the water emanating from the spring is crystal clear. The Jhelum River starts from the Verinag spring and passes through Anantnag, Srinagar, Baramulla, Sopore and Bandipora thorough entire Valley at a slow speed & ultimately flows into Wullar Lake. The Verinag is a summer excursion spot when a large number of tourists visit the place. Further the place is also visited by a good number of Schools and colleges of valley as a famous excursion spot.
